Vendace In Loch Earn

This is the rarest fish in the United Kingdom and in 2016 following captures of single vendace in 2005 and another in 2012 Scottish National Heritage commissioned a further netting only survey in Loch Earn to see if a breeding population had established itself. The survey took place between 27th-29th November 2016 and the netting produced 186 brown trout, 21 arctic charr and 1 vendace. The single vendace netted was a ripe male with a fork length of 209mm and scale readings indicated a 5+year old fish.
