Loch Earn Char Nearly Breaks The British Rod Caught Record

This stunning char was caught on the 22nd April 2012 by Gary Sinclair an Associate Member Season Ticket holder from Bathgate out with friends in his own boat " Buster " in Ardveich BayFishing ledgered maggot on a size 12 hook in forty four feet of water Gary realised he was into something special.Not exactly sure what the fish was Gary weighed the fish, had some photos taken and gently released the fish unharmed back into the loch as he always does.It was only when he got back onshore and the photos from his i phone were checked out he realised the significance of his catch.Had this fish been just another twelve ounces heavier we could have been looking at a new British Rod Caught Record for Char.The current British record is a fish which was caught in Loch Arkaig by W. Fairbairn in 1995 and weighed 9lbs 8ozs.
